The LIM Foralim 4G is a digital recorder of drilling paramters.
It offers the following functions:
1) It measures, displays and records every centimeter or 1/10 foot versus drilled depth , one to twelve drilling parameters. The most frequently recorded parameters are :
- The Instantaneous Advance Speed (IAS) of the bit or Rate of Penetration (m/h or Ft/h) ;
- The Tool Pressure (TP) or Pressure on the bit (bar or psi) ;
- The Holding Pressure (HP) (bar or psi) ;
- The Torque (TQ) as a pressure (bar or psi) ;
- The Injection Pressure of the drilling fluid (IP) (bar or psi) ;
- The Rotation Speed or Bit RPM (RPM) ;
- The Reflected Vibration according to the VIBRALIM? patent;
- The Flowrate and Volume of the drilling Fluid (QF) and (VOL) (l/mn or gal/mn) and (l or gal).
2) It displays in real time on its graphic LCD screen from one to four curves of selected drilling parameters (option).
3) It prints in real time on a high definition (860 dots/line) and big width (102 mm) thermic printer from one to four curves of selected drilling parameters (option).
4) Il makes possible the drilling mast positionning thanks to the mast tilt option. This option indicates in real time the two mast angles X and Y (2D tilt) that may be azimut compensated for the drilling rigs with cab which have an articulated boom (3D tilt).
5) With the LASERLIM option, it can be altitude referenced giving so the possibility to stop the drilling at a constant hole bottom altitude whatever is the drilling mast inclination.
6) Thanks to its tool box, it has the possibility to reload a datafile in order to display or print again the parameter curves, to edit a drilling report, to enter or modify the site information.
The benefits of the Foralim 4G are many including:
1) The data storage in an internal 2 Mb memory equivalent to approx. 1850 meters or 5500 feet of drilling depths for 4 drilling parameters stored every cm or 1/10 foot.
2) The network CANBUS (Controller Area Network) technology for the link between the measure sensors and acquisition unit. This new technology makes possible the evolution either in number or in sensor type (Depth, Pressures, Proximity sensors, Inclinometers, Laser,…) of the drilling parameters. The data whose the signal is processed with the intermediate bus units flow to the central unit via only one cable.
3) The graphical ¼ VGA monochrome LCD screen displays the drilling parameters graphs and makes possible the use of pop up menus and icons making easier the information inputs and the access to the options.
4) The data download from the internal memory to the hard disk of the PC can be done through 3 different modes : a 2Mb PCMCIA memocard use as a data carrier, a direct RS232 connection or a GSM download directly from the job site to a PC modem connected.
5) The existence of two versions, the FORALIM 1-4G without printer and the FORALIM 2-4G with an integrated printer.
6) The reduced dimensions of the central unit, 280mm (H) x 220 mm (L) x 120 mm (W) for the 1-4G version (Weight 5 Kg) and 290 mm (H) x 390 mm (L) x 120 mm (W) for the 2-4G version (weight 9 kg). These reduced dimensions make possible the installation on any type of drilling rigs, with or without cab.
7) The FORASOFT windows software process the recorded data directly from the memocard or after they have been downloaded. For each drilling data file, this software prints the data parameter graphs and makes possible the export to compatible TXT files.
